It
is here according to belief one crore lingas are found making it all
the more sacred; it is here, strangely enough, Buddhist too built
Viharas - a standing example of religious catholcity; it is this
place called one of the Sakthipithas and the deity is worshipped in
the name of Jogulamba; it is these temple groups built first by a
Rasasiddha under extraordinary circumstances with the infinite
compassion of Lord Maheswar, according to Sthalapurana; it is here
Renuka Devi the chaste wife of sage Jamadagni is worshipped in two
forms - Yellamma and Bhudevi; it is this place serving as the
Western entrance of the highly venerated Sri Saila Kshetra; it is
this place called Bhaskara kshetra due to existence of Suryanarayana
Alayam, a famous one among two of its kind in the whole of Bharat
Khanda, and it is this kshetra that purges one off any type of sin,
if worshipped the Navabrahmas with a bath in Tungabhadra formed by
the confluence of Tunga and Bhadra, the two aspects of Lord Vishnu
and Lord Siva respectively.
