Apprehending
danger to her divine person, if left alone, the dutiful brother drew
a line in front of the hermitage and bade her not to cross it under
any circumstance, before leaving the asram unwillingly. But she
transgressed. And there followed then a disaster of incomprehensible
magnitude that drew tears from the incarnated divinity, and can do
so even now from stone heart that can withstand my dynamite, to be
frank with. The cruel desakanta descending straight here in his
Pushpak, begged and beseeched Mother Sita to step out of the
Lakshmana Rekha, and ultimately carried that holy Janaki, the
ayonija that sent up in smoke all the yonijas of Lanka. Then a
series of calamitous misfortunes sprouted from this sacred soil,
when the Ayodyapathi lived for a short period here. That is legend
which left many vestiges standing as in erasable testimony to the
visitation and habitation by Sri Rama. Though this happened in the
bygone distant past, its sanctity is still manifest in this region
and surging out from the ordeals of true devotees, the beacon lights
for the perpetuation of devotion. Now enter the modern world for
witnessing the concrete evidence of that abstract reality recorded
in legends.
