So
Sri Rama draped in the dress of a servant followed by his dutiful
brother Lakshman went to the chamber of Tanisha in the dead of night
and handed over the entire amount of six lacs misappropriated by
Gopanna for temple purpose. Though wonder was knocking at the doors
of his conscience, he directed them to remit the same to the
treasurer with a note under his signature. On counting to the last
pie, the treasurer issued a receipt to be shown to the jailor for
immediate release of Gopanna. On production, Gopanna was freed, but
he was struck with wonder, nay turned mute and motionless at this
mysterious happening. Even the Nawab, Treasurer and jailor could not
believe as how such huge amount was obtained by the imprisoned, who
was practically denuded before imprisonment? Who were the two? How
could they manage to come to the chamber in the dead of night? Did
they, by the way delude the three into believing with the payment of
such huge sum? Was it a fact or delusion? It was neither a lie nor
delusion; for the exact amount paid was in tact.
