Tirumala
Narasimhaswamy Aalayam
In the north-east corner of the inner prakara of Balaji mandir lies this Narasimha shrine. It is an integral part of the pillared
verandah touching the eastern wall of the inner courtyard. It has an antarala, garbhagriha and mukhamandap all merged in
the pillared hall. The fierce looking icon of chaturbhuja Yoga Narasimha in sitting posture, holding conch and disc in his
upper hands and the lower two resting on the knees gives Darshan on entering the antarala. It is the only single icon here
without any side wards. The well-sculptured icon with its exquisite distinct features is quite adoration-worthy and wrings
veneration at first sight itself. Almost all devotees after paying homage to Vimana Venkateswara and before going to Hundi
adore him invariably. In the temple record, he is named Alagia Singar. In addition to routine daily puja, periodical festivals like
Dhanurmasa puja, Sri Ramanavami, Vasanta Panchami are celebrated with great devotional zeal. As only yatris visiting
Balaji mandir could avail the Darshan, frequency of visits is impossible. So less crowds.
It is an integral part of Balaji Mandir in Tirumala Hills, accessible by bus from Tirupathi in the Chittoor district of A.P
