"As
a result of the consultations between the States and the W.M.P. Ministries, the Government
of India set up an Advisory Committee for implementing the decisions as regards Somanatha.
Several Government servants, including Dr. J. C.
Ghosh ' Chemist, and the Town Planning Expert of the Government of India were members of
the Committee. The Director-General of Archaeology was appointed the Convener, and in view
of my fairly intimate knowledge of ancien history of Gujarat, and particularly of
Somanatha, I was appointed the Chairman of the Committee. As a Chairman, I took up the
implementation of the scheme in closest co-operation with the States Ministry.
"Later, I was asked to prepare a scheme for the
University of Sanskrit to be located at Prabhas ' and the same was accepted by the States
Ministry as one of the objects of the Trust.
"On October 18, 1949, Sardar approved of this Trust.
