| The following
propitiatory hymn dedicated to Saturn will give a clear idea of its parentage, and
reverential recitation of -the hymn allays the fears of a malefic Saturn: Neelaanjanasamaabhaasam Raviputram Yamaagrajam Chhaayaa Maartaandasambhootam pranamaami Saneeswaram. At Tirunallar, three miles south of Karaikal, the Old French possession in India exists a famous temple of Saturn. The temple is dedicated to Siva but Saturn has a sanctum in a niche inside the outer wall of the temple. Here Saturn was made powerless when King Nala. Took shelter under the influence of Siva. Since this incident, the temple has gained reputation and now it is the most famous temple of Saturn in South India. |
