As Saturn cannot
exercise its evil influence on any person inside the precincts of the Tyagaraja temple,
Saturn has been enshrined only at the entrance to the temple, having no connection with
the main temple of the Lord, so as to illustrate the perfect immunity that a devotee
attains from the influence of Saturn once he enters this temple. A new Teertham (tank) was
made in Nala's name called Nala Teertham. Nala also constructed many additions to the Siva
temple.
The annual festival is performed on the day of the Punarvasu star in the month of Vaisakha
(April-May). Pilgrims from all over
Tamilnad visit the place and worship the Lord with great devotion. This is the most famous
temple for Saturn in Tamilnad. |
