TIRUNALLAR |
|
Tirunallar temple
was known as Adipuri in the Krita Yuga; in the Treta Yuga. It was known as Darbharanyam;
in Dwapara it was known as Vedapuri and in the Kali it is known as Naleswaram.
Once when Pundareeka, the Lord Creator, was traversing round the Universe, he came across
a beautiful Shivalinga in
Darbharanyam. Feeling very happy by that sight he mentally worshipped it and built a
temple decorated with nine different kinds of precious stones. He further dug a tank with a holy stick and it is known as Brahma Danda
Teertham. The tank gained sanctity as it was created by divinity. Following suit, other
devas like Indra and others in their turn created holy tanks and charged the water with
mystic power of healing the diseases of mankind. |
