'Faith
in self' means and amounts to confidence in one's own 'self' i.e., faith in
one's own strength, skill and will. Self-confidence is a great virtue. An
invaluable asset. It illumines the present and brightens the future. It is
comparable to a torch that dispels darkness encircling the world. The
well-cultivated faith lashes at the evil despair and pounds the wavering,
sluggish laziness to powder. It puts to rout the Satan Frustration first. There
is nothing unconquerable and unattainable and unanswerable to a man of faith.
'Impossibility' is
erased from his life's dictionary. He springs to action at the very mention of
it. He then summons up his resources, sharpens his intellect and marches forward
thrusting aside the critics and spurning all the obstacles on his way. And so,
he wins ultimately. Does it mean that he wears a success-proof armor? No! Not at
all!! He falls often. Bleeds frequently. But the magic of his faith is that he
rises, every time he falls, and runs as soon as he rises. So, none could hear
the thud at his fall, but all could see a sudden bump, following the fall.
Moreover, he never broods over the losses, or failures, nor does he search
for scars, or
amputations. His self-confidence propels all his impulses and enables him to
achieve what he aspires.
But,
lack of faith, mind you, results in stagnation of action, giving birth to
self-approach. Stagnation sounds a death knells to progress of any kind in
anything. Symptoms of deterioration of the accumulated strength, or wisdom
appear as first installment. Deterioration is detestable.
