Living
as he does in this cruel, sinful and selfish world, he is subjected to constant
trials and tribulations. In consequence, his endeavors are nipped; plans,
flouted; aspirations, blasted; and actions, condemned. Beset with such dastardly
evil forces, man often tends to lose faith in himself and thinks of cessation of
all activities. Gradually, he grows sickly and finally becomes a parasite-a
great' burden on society. And a problem to live; for, he fails in all. Failure
saps his energy and carries him to the grave.
If
his faith is fortified by perseverance, all his problems and failures dissolve
in themselves. Perseverance is fed on faith, but it is mightier than its mother
and hence achieves more than the mother. Proper co-ordination of the two will
round up the arc of man's life, here.
Perseverance
is a sonorous word. Though musical, it taxes the tongue. As it is tough in
composition, so is its connotation. 'Firmness' is its simplified one word
definition. It connotes remaining steadfast to resolutions arrived at, after
profound thought, and deep discussion, and to stand against the challenging
odds. One should stick on to one's decisions
under the most trying circumstances without any idea of cutting short the plans
half-way, or tending to alter the decisions as dictated by the threatening
forces. Change of mind, or lack of steadiness speaks one's inability to cope up
with the situation. Indeed it is a mark of weakness, or the visible symptom of
cowardice. It one persists in executing his projects, in spite of adverse
circumstances, he is entitled to success. So his persistence must be consistent.
