HATAKESWARAM
It
lies at a distance of 3 km from the temple. It is believed that Sri
Adi Sankara dwelt here for some time and wrote Soundaryalahari and
Bramaramba Ashtakam in praise of the deities here. There two springs
called Paala dhaara and Pancha dharma believed to containing medical
properties and they were associated with Sri Sankara. And hence
sanctity.
DAM
SITE
It
is, as Nehruji put it, a modern temple of great socio-agro
industrial importance and lies at a distance of 14 km from the
temple. This 512metre long Srisailam Dam built across Krishna rises
to the height of 274 metres and produces 770MW of power, besides
irrigating 7 lakhs of acres in Telangana and Rayalaseema. Though not
affords a soulful experience, it is an eyeful sight that deserves
visiting.
