Praising
his Dharmanirati he gave life both to the prince and his victim. The
king built a temple and enshrined a linga in the temple. It is on
the same Indrakila Parvatha. This Malleswara descended again and
again to protect his votaries dedicated to the propagation of Bhakti
cult. On other occasion, a mystic by name Panditharadhya came to
this town and worshipped Malleswaraswamy. As chance turned up to
demonstrate the superiority of bhakta over sage, during the
conversation with bhaktas assembled there, he decided to prove his
faith and its truth. Before the witnessing public, he bundled up
burning charcoal pieces in a piece of cloth and placed is over
tender leaves of Sami tree growing there. Neither the cloth, nor the
tender leaves burned, though the burning charcoal issued forth
flames. All were wonderstruck. They praised him for establishing the
power of bhakta through a credible proof. Erelong Lord Siva
appearing before them praised his devotion and conviction, and
public approbation. This happened during that redoubtable just king
Madhava Varma and in the temple of Malleswaraswamy at it.
