ARCHAMURTHI

She is Swayambhu-self-manifest. She reveals herself in sitting posture with eight hands adorned with eight potent weapons, like Ari, Sankha, Keta, Sula, Pasa, Ankusa, Mourvi and Sanaka. The image looks like standing over the demon Mahisha and piercing him with her powerful weapon, and appears in her fiercest aspect. The image is sculptured by a divine master artist, and is superb in details like posture, gestures, proportions of dimension, fitting to the stature chosen. This imposing icon appears loveliest in her dazzling jewels and floral decoration. And no visitor leaves the place without drinking in her unearthly beauty with eyes for long. The attraction it holds, and charm it exudes leaves an unforgettable imprints on the minds that impel frequent visits to fill the soul with her glory for bliss. And she is extremely liberal in granting boons on arthi of any kind at any time. She is very powerful too, and moreover, the several potent yantras installed in four sides of the temple are enhancing her power and popularity, besides publishing to the world of her sports played for lokodhdharana.
