The
scene shifts to Srisailam, the terrestrial abode of that highest
celestial omni compassionate Daivam - Lord Maheswar, taking His seat
upon the head of a devout bhakta. who implored the Lord to abide on
his head permanently by transforming it into a mountain, when the
Lord graced His darsan after years of dirgha tapas. It is one of the
Dwadasa Jyothirlinga kshetras, where sparsa bhagya of archamurti -
Linga is munificently granted, in addition to being the favourite
resort of illustratious pravaktas. Its sacredness permeating the
Saiva literature in all languages proclaims vociferously that with a
mere darsan of temple sikhara, one is relieved of the vicious
circles of births and deaths "Srisaila Sikharam dristhtva
punarjanma navidyate ".
