Anti-Brahminism
Today
Many groups obviously benefit from anti-Brahminism and have
promoted this view to the present day. Christians and Muslims are
often strongly anti-Brahmin and use this to divide Hindu society in
order to gain conversions. This is natural because the Brahmins have
been the main group obstructing the conversion of Hindus to other
religions.
Turning the population against the Brahmins, who are their
religious guides, makes them ripe for conversion. Christian
missionaries like to appear as saviors of poor Shudras and
untouchables from Brahmin oppression. This is little more than
propaganda. The same groups have done little to eliminate the poor
and underclasses in Christian countries.
Christian missionaries originally
came with colonial armies and aided in the plunder of non-Christian
countries like India, creating poverty in what was a much richer
land before they came. They were hardly defenders of the poor. The
poor only became important for conversion purposes, which is why
after they are converted they are largely forgotten. |
