Islam has portrayed itself, particularly in recent times, as
liberating the poor masses of India from Brahmin domination. Yet it
was the Islamic armies that robbed the wealth of the country,
creating poverty, and setting up dictatorial war lords like
Aurangzeb, who lived lives of great luxury and corruption at the
expense of the masses. Islamic countries today have their rich and
poor even more so than other countries. Non-Muslims in Islamic
countries are commonly oppressed and certainly not given much
economic opportunity.
Hence Islam as a democratic and humanistic alternative to castist Brahminism is also little more than religious propaganda. The amazing thing about India is that it had so much prosperity that it could provide so much wealth for so many invaders over such a long period of time! Since independence in 1947 the dominant ideology in India has been socialism, bordering on communism, which can hardly be called pro-Brahmin either.Brahmins have not controlled the news media in modern India, which has been dominated by the same leftist groups and frequently runs anti-Brahmin articles. Marxists in India have replaced the class warfare model of European communism with their own idea of caste warfare based on turning the Brahmins into the main enemies of the people. |
