| THE DANGER OF HINDUS SPEAKING IN THE NAME OF OTHER RELIGIONS | |

such a so-called Christian saint as Mother Theresa has never gone on
record saying that Hinduism or any other non-Christian belief is as
good as Christianity. She was quite happy to convert Hindus to
Christianity, which makes no sense if she really believed in the
validity of all religions. Yet Hindus seem to ignore these facts and
like to reward members of other religions, including their leaders,
with respect or adulation, in spite of the fact that these same
groups.
Hindus think that everyone welcomes their synthetic view, and though some individuals do find it attractive, many more do not. Members of other religions generally view the synthetic approach of Hindus as a Hindu attempt to absorb or co-opt their different religions, to covertly Hinduize them. When Hindu teachers in the West speak of Christ, many Christians consider that Hindus are hijacking Christ, using his image, but distorting his teaching for their own Hindu (and unchristian) end. They see deception and manipulation behind this Hindu practice, a hiding of Hinduism under a non-Hindu form in order to bring Hinduism in by subterfuge. The fact is - which members of other religions easily see - when Hindus say that they accept Christianity or Islam it is not these religions as commonly followed that they mean but a Hindu version of them, which would put an end to them as they are known and practiced today. Those who practice these religions faithfully seldom hold such beliefs and consider them to be contrary to what their religion teaches. |
