RAM KRISHNA MISSION TEMPLES

On the occasion of her birth centenary that was observed recently all over India, much light was thrown on her life and her great ness as a saint. Some of the tributes paid to her memory are very revealing. I quote a few below after first giving an extract from Vivekananda's letter: -

"Without Sakti there is no regeneration for the world Mother (Sarada) has been born to revive that wonderful Sakti in India; and making her the nucleus, once more will Gargis and Maitreyis be born into the world.... Hence it is her Math I want first.... Brother, before proceeding to America,
I wrote to mother to bless me. Her blessing came and at one bound I cleared the ocean...." (Pp. 416-17, completes Works of Swami Vivekananda, Vol. VII).

Swami Brahmanand says, ".... There is no difference between Shri Ramakrishna and Mother. Through Mother's grace attainment of liberation becomes easy." Swami Adbhutananda mentions a fact, which is very significant: "Immediately after establishing the Math, Swamiji (Viveka- nanda) installed there the dust of Mother's feet, which is being worshipped in the Belur Math even today…." Swami Yoga- nanda attests to that she was a great Yogini:

"At Brindavan.... One day her companions found her absorbed in deep Samadhi.... Mother seemed to come down to the ordinary sense plane (after repetition of Sri Ramakrishna's name in her ear) .... Tadatniya-Bhava was common with her.... She remained self-forgetful for hours together."IX

The spiritual family of Shri Ramakrishna has not only given us Sri Ma as she is commonly referred to fondly and respectfully now but also a number of other disciples both men and women. The most exhaustive Bengali biography of Shri Ramakrishna is Shri Shri Ramakrishna Lila
Prasanga by Shri Sarat Chandra Chakravarthy (Saradananda) and also the work of Shri Mahendranath Gupta, 'The Gospel of Shri Ramakrishna' is also an invaluable record of intimate discourses.
