These
heart-rending wails found answers in the disposing of all the
saleable items in the palace, besides the crown property worth
millions of rupees, readily available in the form of movable and
immovable property. The loan swallowed up every thing that could
fetch a price, or a person ready to bid for it in the auction.
The
ministers who were bent upon placing the Crown Prince on the throne
succeeded at last. Of course the vacant throne was filled, but
emptiness greeted their eyes every where. Asoka, the emperor did
display his imperial powers in imperious way.
