The
legend begins in the Tretayuga when devout prince by name Hrusva
Sringi turned God-wards for getting permanent cure of his sickness
deformity and disease. Despite the persuasion of his worldly father
to become a grihasti and inherit the kingdom, he brushed aside and
changed himself into an elephant first and then a mountain to enjoy
the grace of Gods Padasparsa, when Lord Narasimha decided to take
his seat on the mountain. Pleased with his wish, Lord Narasimha has
been dwelling since then. in the legends this hill goes by the name
of Hasti Sringi. Later when Namuchi the dreadful demon converted the
world into hell by his asurakrityas, Lord Mahavishnu descended and
killed him with his Sudarsanachakra. At the instance of sages and
affected people, he is dwelling here at the base of hill receiving
worship. Sri Rama made Anjaneya the kshetrapalaka after availing the
darsan of Lord on his visit. It has several other plus points
that draws people for emamncipation.
