This
Lord has a strange passion for panakam - a beverage made from
jaggery, cardamom etc. and blesses the adorers with boons in
addition to removing the sins of all kinds with panaka naivedyam
only. Though he preferred honey naivedya in the Kritayuga; milk
naivedya in the Tretayuga, ghee in the Dwaparayuga, he now satisfies
himself with panakam alone. Arid moreover; he receives only half of
the quantity offered, and the rest is given back to the devotees.
When the priest pours with conch the beverage made and offered,
there is heard a gurgling sound marking his satisfaction and it is
only half the quantity that is consumed by him at that time. There
is a kalpa vriksha tree on the hill conferring Santanaprapti on the
barren woman.
