Here
is another anecdote of bhaktas' unbounded dedication to this
compassionate Lord. Tradition says that the Lord is staying here
permanently of his own accord after that lokadhdharanakarya. One
version is that his infatuation for Chencheeta - a local belle whom
he married was so great that he became totally oblivious of Vaikunta
and his former status and all. He is abiding in this hill abode
since his first appearance. That is the reason why the locals
especially padmasalis perform Kalayanotsavam of this Lord in such
grandiose manner that the whole temple region reverberates with
piety that goes hand in hand with gaiety. For, they claim that his
divine consort belongs to their caste. The entire community
assembles and lustily participates in the function. The peculiar
custom observed then is the selection of person to perform the
wedding ceremony. How to select that 'ONE' and 'WHO' to be given
that privilege? They have away out and it is followed for centuries.
