Many
Muslims belonging to both royalty and commonalty also embraced
Hinduism and turned illustrious devotees. Some composed poems in
praise of the Lords, whom they adored and, who came to their rescue
in the hour of need.
A
few built temples and spent lots of money on expansion and
renovation of temples. Why, even in sonic parts, their faith rather
frenzy reached the highest peak that they christened their children
with Hindu names as evidenced by the existence of Varaha Sahebs in
the Chidambaran region of Tamil Nadu. The word goes round that
the Srimushnam temples deity Sri Varahaswamy is so benevolent and
munificent that he showers boons out of proportion on the
saranagathas, transcending barriers of religion and other man-made
heinous distinctions. The beneficiaries participate in annual
festivals with unparalleled zeal far exceeding that of Hindus.
