KALKAVATAR KSHETRAS IN ANDHRA PRADESH

Rajolu - Venkatanarayana Swamy

This famous Vaishnava kshetra shares many features with the world-renowned Satyanarayanaswamy of Annavaram. Although the name and form of Venkatanarayana is one among the multifarious aspects of Sri Mahavishnu, it is new to Telengana people, but their zeal for worship is neither less nor blame-worthy. The frequency of visits by the devotees and their exuberance in celebrating periodical festivals deserve every praise and worthy of emulation. The temple is quite decent and modest in proportion, yet contains all the essential parts. The archamurti bears striking resemblance to the holy icon of Annavaram Satyanarayanaswamy except in one feature. This sacrosanct image is bereft of moustache, though shares other features like size, shape, sheen and polish. It is bewitching and wrings veneration. Agamic worship is offered and occasional pujas and festivals are carried on with great devotional fervour.

It lies 30 km off Alampur commanding bus facilities from Vaddepalli, the mandalam headquarters of Palamur district in Andhra Pradesh.
