Vijayawada
- Venkateswaraswamy Aalayam
This
centuries old city with legendary background that brought fame As a
famous Triputi, where daivam, kshetram, thirtham vies with one
another for supremacy boasts of many places of worship imbued some
sort of mysticism or other. There are as many as one dozen ancient
temples that have fantastic and exotic legends. Each enthralls and
bends heads in veneration, if the whole back ground is acquainted
with some sort of evidence or the other, which the devout bhaktas
take it with mute acceptance and enjoy bliss. Here is one lying in
the Brahmin street of ONE town had such a fantastic story. Here this
Sun's rays fall at the feet of the archamurti during mornings
believed to be the Sun God's obeisance to him. Orthodox await the
moment and pin the Sun-god in offering worship, but the highly
advanced attributing it to superb architectural feat confine
themselves to four walls shutting the doors bolted behind. Another
belief is that this archamurti bearing striking resemblance to the
one installed at Mailavaram temple happened to, be one of the twins
and hence such exactness in every external appearance. Moreover, the
deities directed the pious men in the bygone past to install them in
two places - one here and the other at Mailavaram. Overwhelmed by
the fantastic account, the devout add to their faith some more
ritualistic worship. This temple being an old one is complete in
itself with all the essential parts. Daily agamic puja is offered
and annual festivals witness the theistic fervour touching the
meridian.
It
lies in One town of Vijayawada, accessible by walk or cycle
rickshaws from railway station.
