Srinivasa
Mangapuram - Kalyana Venkateswaraswamy Aalayam
The divine
couple-Lord Srinivasa and Padmavathi are said to have stayed in this
sanctimonious place after their marriage at Narayanavanam, the then capital of
Tondaman Chakravarthi. The breath-taking environs vibrant with the bounties of
the colourful Nature, resonant with the sounds of mild and wild animals,
together with the imposing range of Seshachala in its front afforded them such a
royal banquet to their eyes and cars that they became oblivious of the movement
of Kalachakra and stayed for hours that they gracefully leaped into days,
ultimately rolling into months. The land sanctified by their Padasparsa was
deemed extremely holy surcharged with the flavour of Vaikunta. A devout
Vaishnava bhakta wanted to perpetuate that sanctity and share that mahadbhagya
to the manavaali, rolling in tears of their own making due to mad craze for
materialism, built an elegant temple of modest dimensions some centuries back.
It contains, to say first and last, an exact prototype of Lord's black granite
icon at Tirumala. Surprising to see that this one is taller, and moreover
equally and carefully decorated alike, and if one throws a quick glance at it,
he feels that he is standing before the Tirumala Balaji s icon itself. So
captivating it is that its resemblance makes the casual visitor mistake it for
the august one at Tirumala. It is indeed a boon to those, who do not visit
Tirumala, only to be disappointed with the split second darsan of that
Divyamangalaswarupa to visit and enjoy the darsan of this Lord for minutes. Many
pious bhaktas are paying regular visits and drinking in the apurupa divyasobha
of the presiding deity with their eyes.
The
temple like its counterparts is containing all parts including a sturdy strong
compound wall, enclosing many parivaradevatas in elegant niches around the outer
wall too. Agamic nithyanaimithika worship is offered with elaborate rituals akin
to the performance at Tirumala. Among the annual festivals, Pavitrotsav deserves
mention; for, it is on this day that devout bhakta handed over this sacred
shrine to the T.T.D. authorities for efficient administration and performance,
of all prayer services and celebration of periodical festivals with great due
pomp and splendour. Brahmotsav and Rathotsav are celebrated on a grand scale
luring lakhs.
It
is 12 km off Tirupathi on Tirupathi - Madanapalli highway, accessible by town
bus and autos at all hours.
