Sitanagar
- Balaji Aalayam
This
temple built in recent times has some gruesome past. It is said that
a great devotee desiring to build a grand shrine all by himself for
Lord Venkateswara atop the hill, started building a broad flight of
stairs first. And making of the Balaji icon simultaneously. So far,
so good! floor man did not estimate properly the enormous
expenditure for such gigantic task that consumes not lakhs but
crores. Soon all his lifelong savings touched the bottom of his
treasure, so he gave up the attempt and left this world with an
ardent hope that some one would fulfill his desire. God, perhaps,
pitying him woke up a god-mended man, who took up the onerous task.
And with the goodwill of many like minds, he is nearing the goal.
The blue print is quite ambitious, but it will certainly see the
light of day. The archamurti now standing in a make-shift mandap is
an exact proto-type of the Tirumala Balaji, in height, sheen, size
and external polish. Daily puja is offered. And if devotees visit
with handfuls and fill the hundi, soon it will rise to the height of
Tirupati; for, Bhagawan Balaji never, lets down any saranagatha. He
lifts and emancipates at the right time.
It
is in Sitanagar of Vijayawada, accessible by auto or town bus from
railway station or bus stand.
