In those days
rishis wore clothes woven out of the smooth barks of trees.
Tucking the bark-cloth in his arm-pit the rishi walked a few steps along the river-bank.
Green grass covered the path like a thick carpet.
Birds chirped joyously from inside the foliage of trees.
The rishi was attracted by a pair of sweet calls.
He looked up in the direction from which they came. He saw a pair of Krauncha birds seated
on the branch of a tree, engaged in love-play. |
