The rishi's
heart filled with joy at the peace and harmony of the place.
Even as he was thus enjoying the scene, he saw a fowler's arrow flying in the direction of
the bird couple.
At once the male bird, hit by the vicious arrow, hurtled down writhing in pain.
It fell dead on the grass below in a pool of blood.
This sight was followed by the wail of the female bird at its cruel separation.
The rishi was shocked by the cruelty of the act. |
