KEYS TO THE AWAKENING OF BHARATA |
|
The Net of
Bureaucracy The net of bureaucracy and
regulations is perhaps the most stifling thing in India and contrary to any idea of
Swatantra (independence). Trying to get anything done in the country requires great
complications and delays, and bribery is often encouraged to get anything finished. Even a
good person will give up facing such intractable obstacles. A large bureaucracy in any
country, though existing supposedly to help people, usually ends up only helping itself.
There are many people in India holding jobs that are useless but there is an
unwillingness to let them go so as not to create more unemployed people. This creation and
sustaining of useless jobs has to come to an end. In
this regard it is curious to see how successful Hindus are outside of India, particularly
in the scientific and economic fields. This is because in a freer and less regulated
society their natural talents can come out. The same situations need to be created
in India itself. People must be inspired to work, not simply to hold a job. For this they
must have the freedom not only to work but also to gain the fruits of the labor. |
