MIMAMSA:
Its fundamental insight is the need for rituals in our outer
life to help attune ourselves and our society to the ritual order of the cosmos. All
systems employ such rituals to enhance or protect their teaching. SAUTRANTIKA: Its fundamental
insight is the transient and momentary nature of all things. The spiritual life is always
a movement from the transient to the eternal.
VIJNANAVADA: Its
fundamental insight is that reality consists of pure consciousness. While the different
systems may define consciousness differently, all agree that it is ultimately indefinable.
SHUNYAVADA: Its
fundamental insight is that truth transcends all the concepts of the mind. Vedanta also
accepts this, as do, Sankhya and Yoga. It is the "neti-neti" doctrine, the great
negation taught in the Upanishads.
