TIRUPATI |
|
There are a number
of Tirthas in the hills on top and below, which are deemed sacred, namely Sri
Swamipushkarini near the temple of the hill, Akasa Ganga, four miles from the hill, from
which water is taken daily for religious use and Kapila Tirtham, a sacred tank a mile and
a half distance from Tirupati, where Lord Siva is said to have blessed Sage Kapila with a
vision of himself and his consort etc. The temple
of Lord Venkateswara is the most famous temple in the whole of Andhra Desa and is a
renowned 'temple in the whole of India to which pilgrims-from all quarters flock. This is
a temple in which the presence of the Lord is actually felt, and where any prayer is still
answered provided there is sincerity and devotion in the heart of the pilgrim. There are
excellent travel facilities and direct bus connections from almost all nearby places. The
Devasthanam also provides very good boarding and lodging, free in the case of poor
pilgrims and on payment in the case of people who can afford to pay. This is a temple to
which Saivites and Vaishnavite and people belonging to all other sub-sects go for their
prayer. |
