SUCHINDRAM

The four pillars will their different sound - producing effects represent a musical party and produce a symphony of the music sung in praise of the Lord.  By their side there are two other pillars facing each other. These are the sculptural depictions of Ramavarma the king of Travancore State and his brother Martanda varma. These great devotees were always followed by they’re cashier and a servant. The servant holds in one hand water jar and in the other a towel and isalways ready to offer his service, to the king.

After each offering, the king has to wash his hands in the water for which the jar is essential. So also the towel is needed to wipe off hands. It is a Hindu custom to offer remuneration to the priests for the performance of religious rites. As the kings do not carry money with them, the cashier follows them and his duty is to foot the going abegging followed by a deer and Kundodaran, his attendant, holding a bowl on his head to receive the alms.
