Strange it is that here the sevas are not charged - no fee in cash or kind - no offering of kanika even. Some special sevas can be offered with the permission of the Heggade and the performer can give whatever he likes, but no compulsion of any kind. Hence the ciruculation of the proverb "MalluBidaa Manjunatha". Offering of coins are not the end, but offering of words - vows and adhering to their truth is all the more important. Self sacrifice for common good is all that he desires, but not Kanikas. Faith in God and temple, and love of humanity are honoured here. If done, the Daivas reward and answer every call made by every worshipper. A commendable tradition worthy of instant emulation.
