MOOKAMBIKAI KOIL KOLLUR

SUKLA THIRTHA

This is situated at the entrance of this holy kshetra. The water level of this sacred thirtha never goes down below a certain level, and is found always higher than those of adjacent walls, ponds etc. It is indeed a marvel. The story goes that it is originated from Patalaganga to wash the lotus feet of MOTHER Parasakti during her war with the Mookasura. There is a Sivalingam here supposed to have been installed by Sukracharya, the asura kulaguru and it is worshipped as Siddheswara. Adjacent to this lies Masti-Ghat, where the Guardian Deities of the forest are worshipped Many more adorable deities are enshrined here on the bank and its surroundings. Theists visit them mukti with great fervor.
