MANSINGH-KI-CHATRI
As
you proceed along the ghats, you come across a muslim type of architecture -
with a dome atop and a gallery around. It is here the famous Emperor Akbar
arranged for the immersion Raja Mansingh's mortal remains. It occupies a coveted
place in the Brahma Kund area. This incidentally brings out Akbar's religious
tolerance. But There are some shrines in the heart of town bearing the marks of
Muslim bigotry too.
After
praying to several deities beautiful
shrines studded to stairs of the ghats, you proceed towards the temples
embodying rich spiritual wealth and glorious past. Among the countless that
beckons your attention and draws your soul most, the temples of Manasa devi,
Durga, Chandi, Anjanadevi Hanuman, Shravannath, Bholagiri, Bhairava-Akhara,
Neeleswara Mahadev, merit a reverent mention, and visit to them is a MUST. No
pilgrim misses them, nor his visit becomes fruitful, if he bypasses any, for
whatever the reason may be. They start with Shravannath shrine situated in
