| Liberation The goal of the soul in evolution is mergence into the Divine or the inner Self. This brings about freedom from the cycle of rebirth (samsara). This is the highest goal of human life through which everything is accomplished. It can be brought about only through Self-knowledge. All life is an experience to provide us with Self-knowledge. To see our Self in all beings and all beings in our Self is the essence of life. Only be becoming all can we go beyond all. Some say that the great Yogis merge into the Unborn and leave the world, leaving others behind without compassion to gain their own personal liberation. This idea shows a great lack of understanding. Liberation is only possible by merging into the Self of all, by becoming one with everything. There is no separate self left over who could leave the world behind or who could act to help it out.
