The temple is of
huge measurement, probably one of the best in the South, both for sculptural and artistic
beauty. A visit to it is considered to be equal to the performance of 100 Ashwamedha Yagas
(Horse sacrifices). So sacred is the place.
Lord Brahma wanted Jnana-Upadesam. He prayed to God. The Lord gave him some Vilva seeds
and told him that he might sow the seeds anywhere he liked and, if they sprouted, then the
Lord would appear there and give him jnana- upadesam. Brahma tried it at Tiruvengadu and
other places, but could not succeed till he came to Tirukkadaiyur. |
