| The water of this
tank is not used for any other purpose excepting the ablution of Sri Amritalingeswarar and
Sankhabhishekam. Only on one day, Sukla Paksha Aswini day in the month of Phalguni
(March-April their bath in it. The important festival is theBrahmotsavam in Chaitra. During this festival, on the 6th day Kalasamharam will take place. In Phalguni the festival of Markandeya bringing Ganges is observed and Markandeya gives Teertham on that day only. Navaratri and Adi Pooram are also celebrated here. But the most important festival is the Sankha Teertha Abhishekam on each Kartika SomaVaram (Mondays in the month of Kartika).
