It is to be
observed that the image of Kalasamharamurti has kept Yama under his left foot with the
idea of releasing him. Had He desired to keep him- under His foot forever He would have
kept under His right leg. Here the Lord warns Yama by show of his fore finger, just to
remind him that, if at any other time, he takes away the life of his Bhakta who has
smeared Vibhuti (sacred ash) and wears Rudrakshas (sacred beads), or any sacred devotees,
he would be severely punished. Parvati, the Mother, consort of Siva,also witnesses the
scene, standing by Siva's side.
This is a place frequently visited by people who pray for longevity. People in the temple
premises celebrate Shashtiabda- poorti (60th birthday) and people in the temple premises
celebrateSatabhishekam (80th birthday) functions.
