On the way Kalayar
came across a trader vending incense (Kungulingam). 'The sight of Kungulingam, which he
offered daily at the temple, made him so happy that he forgot all about his mission. In
exchange for the jewel he purchased a bag of incense and went to the temple to offer it.
Here Kalayar showed the intensity of his devotion to his Lord, by forgetting the plight of
his family. The Almighty knew the precarious and
pitiable condition of Kalayar's family and the mission for which Kalayar came out and what
would be the consequences if the provisions were not obtained for the starving family.
When Kalayar was offering the incense in the temple, God
Amritaghateswarar filled the house of Kalayar with paddy, gold, jewels, clothes, etc.
which was enough for them tolead a happy life forever thereafter. Out of starvation
Kalayar's wife had fallen asleep. God filled the house with wealth and appeared in the
dream to the woman. |
