PUJAS
AND FESTIVALS
Elaborate
ritualistic worship is performed to the holiest padukas right from the very
early morning. It begins with Kakada arati at 3 AM. Then the main puja -
shodasopachari begins. Every puja is offered to the pakukas first but without
touching; then to other deities including Vigneswar Chintamani with arati. The
morning pujas take nearly three hours for completion. After this the padukas are
placed in front of the door till one O'clock. Sevas can be performed now and
they can go on till Mahanaivedya. And later they are placed near the image. At 8
PM, another puja with arati mainly, begins which include circumambulation of the
shrine thrice. After Karpura arati to the Vigneswara, thirtha prasad is given to
the devotees. Mantra pushapa begins then followed by Shejarati worship. With
panchapadai bhajan, the day's work is over. The palanquin in which Utsavamurthi
is placed goes round the mandir in the evenings.
