THIRTHAS
There
are many thirthas lying at 5 KM in the course of the river Bhima and they are as
holy as Kasi, Prayag, Gaya and hence the preference for Guru's settlement. The
waters at the confluence of Bhima and Amaraja are extremely holy. The river
Amaraja has an odd story. According to legend, when gods fought against
Jalandhara, many of them died during the war. This is that scene of action, and
to revive them amrit was brought from heaven. Some drops spilled at this spot
and from them rose Amaraja and it started flowing thenceforth. At the confluence
of Amaraja and Bhima
there is the Shatkula thirtha and a dip in it ensures emancipation and it is
equal to Prayag. There is a Shiva temple opposite Narasimha thirtha. In addition
there are many thirthas, like Rudra thirtha, Manamantha thirtha, Koti thirtha,
Bhagirathi thirtha, Manikarnika thirtha, Gokarna thirtha etc. Pilgrims bathe in
all of them and offer pindas to the manes. And each is associated with some
divine participation and imbued with mysticism. The Joshis guide the pilgrims in
all from start to finish.
