ABODES OF GURUS

the three, Audumbur is one. It is not a big place but can be reached by train or
bus and it is near the Railway station Bhiavadi on the Poona Bangalore Southern
Railway. It is on the bank of Krishna. Just as the Guru's padukas are worshipped
at Ganagapur, here also the very same procedure is adopted. Except the holy
padukas, no other image is worhsipped with much fervor. Many devotees and
princes of Sangli state endowed lavishly and built the temple together with
making strong embankments of the ghats. All pujas and festivals are celebrated
in the same manner as at Ganagapur; no difference exists in the conduct or
collection of charges. Sri Nrisimha Saraswati stayed here for four months and
blessed 64 yogins. And it is from here, he left for Narasimha Wadi. Here also
the similar pujas and festivals are conducted on the same lines of Ganagapur. As
the object of worship is the holy padukas only, there is no much difference in
the routine worship. Some of the prominent spiritual leaders like Sri Vasudev
and Saraswati regarded as the incarnations of Dattatreya lived here and hence
its importance spread far and wide. It can be approached from the Jaisingapur
railway station on the Miraj - Kolhapur Railway. Bus journey from nearby towns
by State or Private buses also possible.
