ORIGIN
OF DATTA SAMPRADAYA
Bhagawan
Sri Krishna said, rather in a vociferous tone amidst the din and dust of battle
that for the suppression of adharma and preservation of righteousness, he takes
birth on and on. And he did by his personal appearance often, or through some of
his potent amsas, who carried out the divine injunction in the roles of saints,
acharyas, pravaktas etc. It so happened that at a particular period in the
Kritayuga there was subversion of dharma by certain perverted brains, who
brought incalculable harm by misinterpreting the holy scriptures to perpetuate
their vested interests. The tree of Chaturvarna started withering due to the
cankerous disease that gnawed at the basic tenants There arose then some evil
sampradayas and blotted out the glory of the hoary culture. The vedic dharma was
held up to ridicule and hence the emergence of Varnasankramana and its sinister
disasters that enveloped thick and fast. God then decided to come down to
restore the order for Viswasreyas, when came the prayer by Sage Atri for the
boon of a son.
