GURU DATTATREYA OF GANAGAPUR

There was as many as fifteen occasional festivals. Of them the one that comes in the Maghamasa is called Gurusmarana festival. Along with the death Anniversary of the guru Nrisimha Saraswati, the other jayanthis of gurus are celebrated with fanfare due. Chaitra pratipada when ashtagandha puja is offered to the padukas has a great pull. Vyasapuja, Bhadrapada Chaturthi are celebrated on a grand scale. During the Karthikamasa, palkhi is taken to the river Bhima. It is a very grand festival, celebrated with pomp and splendor. Datta Jayanti in Margashirshamasa also lures devotees in thousands. Several other sevas can be offered to the guru in many ways i.e. in person or absentia. The victims of all types stay here and offer, or authorize the officials to perform by paying the prescribed fee, and it has equal efficacy and merit as that of performing personally.
