HIS
PRECOCITY
The
boy was precious and used to delight one and all with pranks and
prattle emanating from his sharp intellect. Can he - the God's
deputy be otherwise? Being gifted, his mental age was far advanced
than his chronological age. He was an asset to the entire Brahmin
community. In the fifth year, he was initiated into studies
by his loving father. Alas! he was not lucky to see his favourite
grow into a peerless scholar. After his demise, his elder brother -
Gururaja sent him to his brother-in-law, Lakshmi Narasimhacharya, a
great pundit, for studies. To the astonishment of all, Venkatanatha
drank in the sap of the Vedas, astadasapuranas etc., in no time. And
became a scholar of unprecedented fame. A rare achievement! A great
miracle in fact!! Soon, he was wedded to Saraswati - a comely woman
of commendable qualities of head and heart. Later, to pursue higher
studies, Venkatanatha went to Sri Sudheendra Thirtha - the renowned
Madhva Pithadhipathi of his day, living at Kumbhakonam. His razor
sharp intellect and exemplary humility soon drew him to Acharya
most, and he was awarded the title of Parimalacharya, for his
commentary on the monumental treatise of Sri Sudha. Another miracle!
