To
make things worse as it were, the little he possessed in the form of
utensils and clothes were stolen one night. Grieving over the loss,
he went with family to his erstwhile preceptor Sri Sudheendra yati
at Kumbhakonam. Listening, to pathetic tale, the kind master allowed
him to stay in the Math with his wife and son. He spent some time
there happily writing books and teaching the studies, till he was
asked earnestly by his-preceptor and Pitadhipathi to officiate as
the Madhvapitahadhipathi in his place due to failing health, which
necessarily involves his snapping of bonds with family. He modestly
declined on the pretext that he was quite young for such high post,
and moreover, he added as a grihasti he had duties of
bringing up his son and protecting young wife. The Yatindra finding
his plea reasonable did not press it onwards, yet the choice of his
successor was haunting his mind. One day, Sri Ramachandra, , the
chief deity appearing in his dream asked him to choose Venkata
Bhatta, the only fittest man as his successor. At the same moment,
Mother Sarada appearing before Venkata Bhatta in dream asked him to
accept the Madhva Pitadhipathya for several valid reasons. Next
morning the dreamers met and poured out the contents of their
hearts. And it culminated in the fulfilment of Yatindra's dream. And
Venkata Bhatta becoming the Madhvapithadhipathi under the august
name of Raghavendra Thirtha. Indeed it was a miracle greatest! An
achievement noblest!! An ascent highest!!!
