Tirumeyyam
- Satyagirinatha Perumal Temple
This
is one of the 108 Divya Desams and also reckoned as one of the 18 great
Vaishnavate temple of Pandya desa. Vumaiyyan, the then ruling Prince lavishly
endowed the temple and made a great pilgrim centre. This is also called Satya
kshetra. The Moolavar - Satyagirinatha Perumal is in standing posture and facing
east. The garbhagriha is beautified with Satyagiti Vimana. The Goddess is called
Vuyyavandal Ammal. It has two big tanks called Kadamba pushkarini and Satyagiri
thirtha. Tirumangai Alwar immortalised the glory of this kshetra with his
fragrant Pasuramala. Another creditable feature it claims is the existence of
another immensely popular and infinitely sacred Saivakshetra called
Satyagireeswara shrine.
It
is a rail head on the Tiruchunapalli and Manamadurai line, and the temple lies
at a walkable distance from the station.
