As its very name suggests, this place is the virtual Vaikunta with
a difference: It is undoubtedly the Vaikunta with majestic temple built in
the Dravidian architectural style with Chandra Vimana adorning the
garbhagriha and it- is situated in the heart of the town on the river Tamraparni. It has tall tower
surmounting the broad mahadwara,
piercing into the sturdy compound wall, beckoning devotees coming from
afar. And it is a landmark visible for miles in this holy region, Being built
and endowed later by royal dynasties, everything is huge and
well-decorated with sculptural art. There are many mandaps installed with
the most adorable Vaishnavate deities. It is this Lord Kallabhiran that
emancipated Devendra and a famous emperor called Brighu with His
darsan. Nammalvar eulogized the glory of the Lord in beautiful Pasurams,
which live for centuries to come. The Lord's icon in standing posture
affords an eyeful sight and lifts and genuine adorers without ordeals. The
Mother is called Bhudevi - Vaikuntavalli. The temple tank goes by the name
of Brighu thirtha. Philanthropists endowed the temple in several forms and
enriched its coffers. times numerous. Agamic puja is offered with great
devotion and yearly festivals conducted with great pomp and splendour. It
is one of the 108 Divya Desams.
It is very near to Tirunelveli, a famous town in Tamilnadu, accessible by bus.
